Why is my roper washer not spinning?

Roper washer agitates but wont spin

There can be several reasons behind this problem. There reasons and solutions to those are briefly explained below:

Bad Lid Switch:

If the roper washer agitates but won’t spin then most probably the problem is with the lid switch. The problem will be solved if the lid switch is replaced. Besides, we can verify the problem by joining the functional wires together after detaching the lid switch. If the roper washer works fine, then the lid switch must be replaced.

Bad Shift Actuator:

The main function of the shift actuator is to change the transmission mode of the machine. The machine changes its working mode from agitation to spinning through the shift actuator. Thus, if the shift actuator is bad and faulty, the roper washer will agitate but won’t spin.

Roper washer won’t do the final spin

There are several reasons for which the roper washer won’t do the final spin. The reasons are briefly explained below:

Bad Timer:

A bad timer can be the reason why the roper washer won’t do the final spin. If the timer advances while the washer is operating, it is completely fine. But, if the timer does nothing while the washer is operating, the timer may need to be replaced.

Bad Clutch:

The clutch is an important thing in a roper washer as it helps the washer to increase its speed during the spin cycle. The clutch mainly grips and drives the washer. So, if the clutch is bad, the washer won’t do the final spin.

Roper washer won’t rinse or spin

When a roper washer stops rinsing or spinning, there are some reasons behind it.

Faulty Drive Motor:

One of the reasons for which the roper washer won’t rinse or spin is the faulty drive motor. Though it is not the main reason, it can be a major concern. If the washer makes a noisy sound and doesn’t rinse or spin, the drive motor should be replaced.

Faulty Door Lock Motor:

The door lock motor can also get damaged due to various reasons. If it gets damaged, the door won’t lock perfectly. As a result, the washer won’t rinse or spin and won’t perform its operation. If this is the case, the door lock motor should be replaced.

Roper washer drains but won’t spin

A roper washer won’t stop spinning so easily. There must be some problem behind which the machine will drain but won’t spin. The probable reasons are briefly explained below:

Faulty Coupler:

If the roper washer drains but won’t spin, there can be some problem with the coupler. The motor is connected to the washer transmission through the coupler. The coupler has three parts that work together so that the motor can spin the transmission. If the coupler is faulty, the motor will run and make noise but the washer won’t spin. So, the coupler has to be replaced.

Broken Drive Belt:

The drive belt ensures the spinning of the inner tub of the washer as it connects the motor pulley to the drive pulley. So, if the drive belt is broken, the washer will drain but won’t spin. So, it should be replaced with a new one.

Damaged Drive Pulley:

The washer will drain but won’t spin if the drive pulley is damaged. This is because a drive pulley is necessary for the drive belt o to connect with the motor pulley. So, if it is damaged, the drive belt won’t connect with the motor pulley and the spinning will stop. So, the damaged drive pulley should be replaced with a new one.
