How to Make a Photo Booth Frame with Wood

Step 1: Gather the necessary supplies

We will suggest you use pine wood for this project. The reason for using pine wood is that pine wood is lightweight compared to other woods. As you will be holding up the frame, it is better if the photo booth frame is not made of heavy wood. You will need the pine woods that are perfect for making a party photo booth. Go to your nearby hardware store and look for pine woods that are knot-free.

Step 2: Cut the pine woods to make the photo booth

The first thing you will need to do is to cut the pine woods with the right measurements. More or less, every selfie station has a particular measurement. Follow that measurement and cut the pine woods. You will need two or three pieces of pine woods with a height of 5 feet.

Each piece of wood should not have a thickness of less than ¾ inches. If you got thicker pieces, you can always trim and get the desired thickness. At the end of each piece of wood, miter at an angle of 45 degrees. You will need to cut the woods in an angle because the woods need to be assembled in a square size at the end.

Step 3: Take precise measurements while cutting the woods in a 45 degrees angle

Making an accurate angle for making the selfie booth is important. If you can’t cut the woods with the right measurement, you won’t be able to form a square-shaped or rectangular-shaped photo booth frame. You can test on a few small pieces of woods at first and see if you are getting the right shaped wood pieces.

If you are not being able to form a square-shaped booth, you will need to adjust the miter saw. It is better to try out on small pieces at first. Otherwise, you will be wasting the pieces of wood you bought in the first place.

Step 4: Trim the edges of the wood frame

You can trim the corners and the edges of the wood pieces so that it looks more like a picture frame. You can use a Kreg jig to assemble the pieces together. The jig will help you to connect the wood pieces together by pocket holes and screws. The Kreg jig will help you to assemble picture frames and other wooden works as well. Place the jig at the end of the smaller wood piece.

Step 5: Assemble the wood pieces

Then, drill the pocket holes. After drilling the pocket holes, assemble the pieces together. At the joint of the wood pieces, you will need to apply wood glue for a stronger outcome. Then, screw the joints as well. Assembling the wood pieces is important because everyone will be holding the photo frame and take pictures. If you don’t make the photo booth frame strong enough, there is a possibility that the frame will break down during your occasion.

Step 6: Apply wood putty in the gaps

After you are done assembling the parts, there might be some gaps in the corner. You will need to fill this gap so that the frame doesn’t have an unfinished look. You can use wood epoxy to fill in the gaps. The wood putty or filler will make the gaps of the frame invisible from the outside. Even if you didn’t have a great finish, you could do it with the wood putty. These fillers are made in such a way that it can fill any gap in a wooden surface.

Step 7: Sand and paint the frame

Once you are done assembling the frame, 80% of your work is done. Now you will need to sand the frame so that the surface is even on every part of the frame. Then, apply paint on the frame. You can add wood paint as well as any other color as well. If you are having a party outside your home, you might prefer the natural color of the wood. On the other hand, if you are making the photo booth frame for a special occasion and you have a theme, match the color with the theme.

Step 8: Add accessories to the frame

A plain photo booth frame will never look good. You will need to add accessories like flowers, ribbons, or beads to the photo frame. You can write down the name of the event, as well. Then, use glitter on the letters so that the decoration stands out.

If you follow this step by step guide, you will be able to make a beautiful photo booth frame for your special occasion. Once you make this photo frame booth made from wood, you will be able to use it for different occasions, as well.
